Deivathirumagal - Reaches deep inside our heart

Disclaimer: I have not seen 'I am Sam'

The last soft movie I remember which was appreciated by anyone and everyone was Mozhi. I would say that Deivathirumagal is at least 5 times better than Mozhi and that's the reason we have been seeing sky high praises from everyone who saw the movie.

Each thing we cross in our life will have a limit related to the depth it can reach within us. Music is something which can go to any depth. I never knew that a movie also can touch such depths. But this movie has given impulses sitting deep inside our heart.

Vikram and Baby Sarah.. Can I even write 1% about their performance in words? Definitely not. When they say "Krishna Vandhaachu" and "Nila Vandhaachu" in this movie, namma manasu engeyo poiduchu :). They stole our heart. To put it simple, National award is reserved for both of them. Anyways, we have already reserved a place in our heart for their performances in this movie.

Anushkha is not very beautiful and neither it is needed for her role in this movie. She has given a satisfactory performance. I felt that Amala Paul is looking better than Anushkha. Even swapping of their roles might have not been a bad idea.

Nassar's role was not extraordinary compared to his earlier roles. Actually it is the portion in which he comes most (between interval and final court scene) which was not so great and also lacking in logic. What to do? Vikram and that baby devil [:)] have given such a performance that all others just appear very ordinary.

Santhanam played a low profile, of course sticking to his own style. He was good. The entire cast was impressive. Not even a single bad performance.

Nirav Shah's camera was brilliant as usual. Avalanche was beautifully brought in screen.

GV Prakash has given a good album once again. "Pa Pa" and "Kadha Solla" are signs of his maturity. He has started giving what is exactly needed for the movie. Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavil in Saindhavi's chocolate voice is every one's hum now. Aarariro song, its violin version as BGM, Life is Beautiful theme... GVP is an important factor for this movie's success.

How can we forget the man behind this master-piece? Yes it is director Vijay. As I said for Vikram and Sarah, praising Vijay's work by words would not be a good idea. Every time we got goosebumps, every time we were about to cry..can those emotions be replaced by words? I salute you Vijay. It should not be a difficult task for Vijay to take Part II from where he left. What would be difficult is to give the same feel with audience expectations which would have gone himalayan high. I believe Vijay can do it again!

  4. You took some time to write this, didn't you? You might have seen the tweet I posted after I came out of theatre. Madrasipatinam movie was touching only in the end but I got emotional seeing few scenes after intermission and in the climax scene I couldn't control my emotions watching Vikram and Sara.

I don't understand when people under-estimate the movie after getting to know it's a remake of 'I am sam', honestly when something is told in our local language with good screenplay it impacts us more IMO.
This movie is released in Telugu named 'Naana'(means Appa in Telugu), few people here have blindly ruled out assuming it as dubbed version of 'Paa', how ironical?. It hasn't got a good response here. Such a nice movie let down by its name choice. Apologies for putting it up in paragraphs.

  5. @Krishnaswami
Even I was of the impression initially when I saw the first teaser that it was a remake of 'Paa'.

I think the movie will be a big hit in Tamilnadu.

  6. No words to Say Karthik. People who really liked the character will feel a lot and that would bring tears in their eyes. I hope you would have dropped tears!!! Such an excellent movie. All the day listening to Vizhigalil oru Vaanavil song - what a voice she has - Awesome it is. GVP and Vijay reached new heights in tamil film industry. Someone has to put a hell lot of effort to make movies like this in tamil film industry - which Vijay Did - and people over here are not ready to accept / praise the efforts.

    PS: Completely my opinion. NOM.

  7. Dude, First of all I don't understand why people get into the knots of useless sentiment, making the life of Low IQed directors like Vijay so easy.

A few questions and concerns over the movie:

    1) Why so much twists in face/hand required from Vikram? Is he afraid of delivering natural acting to Tamil audience? Or is it like he doesnot know natural acting for this role. Or may be the director (dummy piece) had not even thought about it.

    2) The romance song at the climax alone is sufficient to justify that the director should get out of tamil cinema to save the people from getting involved in such a shitty mass movies.

    3) The comedy track of MS Baskar. What a waste of talent. Highly irritating. Thoo.

    4) Havent you heard of those dialogues in the movie already in 100s of tamil cinema before. Look what happened to classy dialogue movies like pudhupettai, Anbe sivam. Utter flop. This is the taste of tamil audience.

    5) Court Scene. Sabbaaa mudila. Even after movies like paruthiveeran, indha drama court thevaya. With dialogues like "your honor".

    6) Santhanam. Waste of talent.

    7) Music. Could have done better.

8)Poor screenplay. The villain thatha takes Vikram in his car. Apram vikram ah kazhatti vidraar. Ethana tamil padathla paathirukkkengaa. Innum thirundhalaya makkal.

People falling into the sentimental pit easily which mentals like Vijay (director) taking advantage. Vijay nnu peru vechaala ipdi thaan iruppaangala..

  8. I respect your view about the movie..

But what I don't understand is your prejudice towards director Vijay

  9. Yes after seeing how MS Baskar's talent was wasted in the film, I formed an opinion about this guy. And pointing out his other mistakes was easy. What I dont understand is how you could give positive review about the director even after seeing the climax romance song.

  10. Yes I agree that MS.BASKAR is a good actor but he has given some ordinary performances too earlier.. Hating a director for not using Baskar properly... Man, Baskar will feel happy to see your comments :)

I feel that it was Nazar who was under utilised.. Yes I and any one would agree that it is not a flawless movie.. Even I have mentioned the lack in logic.. Yes including that romantic song is a compromise..

Still why are most of us hailing the movie.. It is the sentiment which hides all flaws.. Now answering your question why we are falling into sentiment pit.. Finally all of us are sentimental just that the level varies.. Even we didn't like Mayandi kudumbathar kind of sentiment
    .

But sentiment in this movie has moved many of us.. If you are not moved by that, yes you won't like the movie.. Looks like you are a hard person who cannot be moved by even the highest of the sentiments :)
