First half was boring.
Sentiments like French lady death, Ramesh Aravind sickness, Urvashi's cry etc. didn't work out.
The idea of live dialogue recording didn't help movie by any means. Actually, sub-titles were diverting the attention.
But only people like me who wants to remember all those stuffs and try to write will have it in mind. Otherwise, you will see just smiling faces outside theatre because, the last 1 hour made everyone forget about all those minus points.
You have to keep laughing and clapping during last 1 hr. Thank you Manmadan ambu team for that treat.
Kamal need not prove himself as a best actor since it is 'taken for granted'. We may tell "Thats enough, Kamal. You are the best". But his search for new things will never stop. 'Nee neela vanam' song picturisation is the best example for that. Visual in reverse but Kamal's lip in synch with the song!! Wow, what a performance! Proud to be a Kamal fan.
Madhavan was awesome. Proved once again that it is the film maker who is responsible for extracting the best from actors. Madhavan was best in Manmadan Ambu.
Trisha was beautiful. Her acting was also nice. Good going Trisha!
Sangeetha got her first good performance. Actually she got more scope than Trisha to perform. Well done Sangeetha!
The complete star cast, especially Kunjan, Ushauthup and that small boy did a splendid job.
Cinematography was perfect! Manush Nandan gave a quality visual.
Music: Devi Sri Prasad - Well, I am not very much impressed by the songs but the BGMs were definitely good.
Kamal as a writer has proved once again. The dialogues in last 1 hour was on par with crazy mohan dialogues (I am not sure if there was any contribution from Crazy Mohan for this movie).
Finally, ever successful KS Ravikumar. Kamal kind of writer definitely needs KSR kind of director to make the movie entertaining for everyone.
It is proved once again that Kamal-KSR combination will never go wrong!

Eesan - A decent attempt
While Sasikumar was so far dealing on villages and south Tamilnadu, this time he has given a full fledged city movie (with some scenes in 2nd half showing village). He has succeeded in showing the city culture (ECR, pub, party etc.). I was actually feeling like seeing a Venkat Prabhu movie.
The way he portrayed politicians and police was simply superb! No exaggeration and at the same time no adakki vaasithal. Ulladhu ullapadi! I would like to tell some dialgues which were very good but at the same time I am hesitant to spoil. So watch it in large screen!
His movies will usually have good amount of humor. But that is missing in this movie, may be he didn't want to interrupt the thrilling screenplay with comedy. Actually speaking, Sasikumar didn't succeed well in rendering a thrilling movie.
Though he managed to leave so many open ends and create a puzzle of how he is going to join everything, he didn't maintain a good thrill. But the introduction of that small boy was a good twist.
Vaibhav Reddy, yet another good performance. But he has to come out of the 'city guy' image and try some different type of movie too.
Azhagappan was too good as a politician.
Samuthrakani, as a character did a good job. But definitely he cannot be accepted as a hero. He is very stiff. There should be some dynamics for a hero. But I think, even Sasikumar didn't want any one as hero in this movie.
Abhinaya is gorgeous. Good that she got some scope to come in modern outfits too.
The complete crew has acted well. All were natural and helping for the smooth travel of movie.
James Vasanthan.... Songs are nice to hear but nothing got retained in mind. BGMs are ok ok type.
Final words to Sasikumar. You have got a good amount of family audience. Then why so much violence in this movie? Scenes following rape, final 15 mins of killing are horrible. You could have avoided them.
So how is Eesan? A decent attempt but definitely lacks Sasikumar's touch.

Chikku Bukku - Sleep Well ;)
Chikku Bukku is a run of the *SLOW* mill story. It has 2 (boring) love stories which merge in the climax without any impact.
An 'as usual role' for Arya and as usual decent acting by him.
Shriya was trying to act like Jenelia. But she didn't realise that Shreya or Jenelia or any heroine cannot help this movie by any means.
60% of Santhanam comedies were good (though they were not in synch with movie). And it is unfortunate that he comes only in 5% of the movie. Total disappointment for audience who came to theatre just because he was present in the movie. They were expecting a Boss Engira Baskaran kind of treat. Santhanam, FYI. You have gained a position so quickly which Vivek and Vadivelu took good amount of time to reach. Do try to retain it.
Music by Colonial cousins.... Dhayavu senju paduthaadheenga pa. Pls stop with your albums. You guys are not fit for film music.
Director Manikandan.. Ada poya useless fellow!
Friends, if you go for morning or afternoon shows you will feel sleepy. If you go for evening show also you will feel sleepy. If you go for night show, you will definitely sleep ;) Should you pay and have an uncomfortable sleep in theatre?

Nandalala - Movie for music
It is good that Mysskin is reading a lot, seeing lot of world cinema and wants to render a movie like Kikujiro to Tamizh audience. The intention would have been justified if Tamizh cinema was already seeing many Anjaadhes and Mysskin says "No No No. Why only this kind of cinema? Let me a show a travel of a mentally affected adult and a school boy in search of their mother. I will show many characters in the travel"
But that is not the case now. Movies like Anjaadhe (I meant 'like Anjaadhe' not based on the story or screenplay. I meant that as a different kind of movie which had a good reception) are not getting released frequently. So may be, Mysskin could have ventured into many such projects and later tried a movie like Nandalala. Well it could be a great movie which is appreciated by people like Kamal Hassan, but I felt this is too early both for his career and Tamizh cinema (Definitely not to degrade Tamizh cinema. Of course, Tamizh cinema is also part of world cinema and it has its own significances).
I am not sure if Mysskin saw the theatrical version of the movie. I felt lot of open ends. If I get a chance to meet him, I am having list of doubts to be clarified by him. Or I am not sure, if I had to think more or see the movie some more number of times to get those doubts cleared. But I am sure about one thing. He had lot of scenes in hand and released only half of them. Some scenes end abruptly.
Ok, with all those bashing (well not really bashing!) let me get into the good thinks of the movie. Star cast... Mysskin has definitely done a decent job and so is Snigdha. The boy Ashwath scores a lot.
Cinematography by Mahesh Muthusamy was brilliant. Those isolated thar roads with complete green on both sides were treat to watch. Camera angles were also very different from a typical Tamizh (or even Indian) movie.
Music... Frankly speaking, I felt that Mysskin took this movie just for BGMs of Ilayaraaja. There were very less number of dialogues and it was music of Raaja which was speaking most of the times. But it is unfortunate that most of the songs were not picturised. Mella Oorndhu Oorndhu (though only Pallavi) was placed nicely. Goosebumps during Onnukkonnu Thunai irukkum (What a voice of Yesudas!) and Thaalaattu ketka was very emotional. I would like to see the movie some more times in large screen just for the BGMs of Ilayaraaja. We like to hear Ilayaraaja's music while travelling. This movie itself is a travel and only Isaignani can give the best music for such a movie! No doubt for the same reason Ilayaraaja's name was given more importance in posters.
If Mysskin had given some completeness, it would have been a great success in box office too. Now I think, only Ilayaraaja fans, fans of soft poetic cinema and people who know the feel of missing their mother would like this movie.

Mynaa - Unconventional
I think, director Prabhu Solomon was very clear about 2 things.
1. Keep the characters as natural as possible
2. Show the hill villages and Munnar as beautiful as possible.
He has accomplished both the tasks successfully. Congratulations for that!
Why did I call this movie 'Unconventional'? The travel of story is something very different from whatever is shown so far. But how good was that difference is a big question.
We have seen movies where the story approaches tragedy but end up on a happy note and vice versa. TR movies, Sethu etc.were great successes because of that total shift post interval. But this movie was frequently cycling between tragedy and happiness. Audience at some point of stage were tired of the twists. "Hey epdi dhan ya padatha mudikka pora?" was the reaction.
There were brilliant comedy scenes (esp the one after bus accident). But they were scattered and not placed properly. I was not clear, what kind of screenplay Prabhu Solomon was trying to deliver!
Songs could have been better. I felt Selvaganesh (Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame) would have been a better choice.
Amidst all those complaints from my side, this movie definitely deserves a good appreciation (which many reviews have given and the theatres are running with good crowd!). Climax was awesome! The complete crew gave a wonderful performance. The small boy (who comes in lungi and calls 'Ai Suruli') deserves a special mention. He was too good!
Amala Paul also deserves a special mention ;) She was very good, both in appearance and acting!
If the director had streamlined the travel of movie even better, this movie would have been listed in 'Best Tamil cinemas'. Now it just deserves a pat on the back!

Uthamaputhiran - A decent entertainer
Mithran Jawahar-Dhanush combination worked out once again in Uthamaputhiran (as usual to some reasonable extent). I would rate this movie 2nd after 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' in their combo.
Dhanush... We have to appreciate Dhanush for having realised quickly (after Sullan) that heroism and image driven movies are not his cup of tea. He is consistent in delivering casual acting. In Uthamaputhiran also he has maintained his consistency. But Dhanush, we are expecting Pudupettai kind of performance also at times from you.
Genelia.. I have always considered Jenelia's cuteness as over dosage. But she has kept things within limits in this movie. Surprisingly (may not be surprising for her fans), she looks gorgeous in this movie. Be it the wedding Saree in the initial scenes or the jeans-Tshirt during their travel to pudukottai or half-saree in Dhanush house, wow! Beauty!!! But it is sad that we could not see her much in 2nd half.
Vivek.. This can be called a 'kind of come back' movie for Vivek. I was able to see people continuously laughing throughout the second half (because of Emotional Ekambaram). This is a response which Vivek didn't get for quite some years because of Vadivelu's replacement. But definitely, I wont call this is a great comedy work by Vivek. Though there couple of quality humour scenes, others were only for people who tend to laugh even for the simplest of comedies.
Star cast is huge in this movie with K.Bahgyaraj, Karunas, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sundarraj, Rekha, Ambika and the list is huge. One person whom I would wish to mention is that telugu actor (Jayaprakash Reddy). Over acting! This Jayaprakash, Brahmanandam etc might be great comedians in Andhra, but that too much of reaction is not what we at Tamilnadu are looking for.
Songs of Vijay Antony doesn't show signs of becoming big hit as his songs usually are.
Mithran Jawahar. He has successfully managed to give another decent remake. But I have a question (for both him and Raaja). Whatever movies they have remade so far are not very different or trend setting movies from other languages. All these are very casual entertainers. We have the potential in TN to give better entertainers. Of course, remaking is not something wrong but when it is believed that tamil film industry has pool of creative people, why do so much of remakes?
Uthamaputhiran is like a happy and easy drive in highway without bothering about route (here I relate to logic). It can be a nice feel to see this movie together with family in theatre (or at home with a decent print of DVD. Sorry for promoting piracy).

Enthiran - Give standing ovation!
Yes it is a little late review. But for a Rajini movie, review after 4 days of release is a very late one. Already lakhs and lakhs of people must have seen the movie and thousands of people might have seen it more than once by now (Probably my numbers are low). When I have reviewed even the worst movies Tamizh cinema had ever seen, it will be injustice if I don't write about one of the best movies of Tamizh cinema, Endhiran!
People are calling this a movie of its kind. Even I am calling it the same but not just for reasons told by all like technicality, location, cinematography etc etc. For a movie like this with so much of investment and an urge to make huge profit, lot of expectations should be created. Movie should be screened in many theatres and they should run house-full shows for the initial days (despite sky rocketing ticket fair), have a decent crowd for many days and most importantly audience should feel that the movie is beyond expectations. Endhiran satisfies all the criterion and so it is definitely a movie of its kind!
Rajinikanth... Thalaivaaaaaaa (Remember I am a Kamal fan!).. What a performance! After Netrikan, I enjoyed your performance inch by inch! I don't know what you meant when that small cute girl ( She comes in most of the ads. I don't know her name) turns back and you laugh at her in the last scene. This is how I interpret it. "You will also grow up some day and become a heroine and even then I will act as a hero pairing you". You are the real hero! Unakku azhivillai! :)
Aishwarya... Beauties may come and beauties may go. But there is only one who always stays in our hearts and it is Aish. Sabba! Kannulaye nikkara pa! Sorry Abishek Bachan! ;)
Santhanam, Karunas & Danny Denzongpa - Not much of work for them since Rajini was present throughout the movie!
Crystal clear cinematograpghy by Rathnavelu and it was pleasing to see all those beautiful places in screen.
Action scenes are worth mentioning. Every frame (I literally mean frame; remember there ll be min 25 frames per sec) in action sequence was taken with utmost perfection and style! Sheer hard work!
Music by ARR is apt for this movie. Kadhal anukkal and Kilimanjaaro which are supposed to slow down the pace of movie were loved by audience for the location. While those jathis in 'Chitti Dance showcase' was showing the brilliance of ARR, Irumbile and Arima Arima were enjoyed by audience with roar!
Finally, Shankar! Man, you made us feel proud! Every Tamilian should be proud for having him in Tamizh film industry. He is nothing less than James Cameroon or Spielberg, really no exaggeration!
See Enthiran in large screens lot of times and every time you see, give standing ovation to the entire team!

Boss Engira Bhaskaran - Just Pass
Though I saw some good reviews for Boss Engira Baskaran, I personally felt that the movie was not as entertaining as told in many reviews.
Definitely there are good amount of laugh bursts and some interesting scenes, but overall, the movie was not a complete entertainer.
Aarya..... Casual acting. Jolly character and Aarya has done a decent job. But definitely there was room for improvement. In some scenes, he was trying hard to get the humor out.
Nayanthara....Polivu poiduchu ma.. Not now, if I remember correctly, even since Aegan.. We all know how badly Ajith was looking when he became so slim.. Edho patient maadhiri irundhudhu.. Nayanthara is also looking like a patient..Konjam poshakka gundaagu ma, thappu illa..
Music: Yuvan.... Songs were good..The usage of old songs in background was good but definitely no credit to Yuvan for that. Credit should be given to Ilayaraaja :)
Director: Rajesh... He thinks differently, especially I liked the climax scene where he speaks with Jeeva over phone.. First of all, we have to appreciate his intention to take jolly type movies and he has some what succeeded... He is in the right direction. but definitely he is very far from taking a perfect entertainer.
I missed some one right? :) Yes, it is Santhanam, the real hero of movie.. Super super super! Sema timing! Kalakitta pa... We got some one in place of Goundamani!

Bale Pandiya - Deserves one 'Bale'
If we want to appreciate something very much, we tell 'Bale Bale'. This movie is not worth two 'Bale' but it definitely deserves one 'Bale' especially for its creativity.
I would like to mention one wonderful thing in this movie. It is the way transition of frame from one scene to another happens. It was a treat to watch them and I have not seen such a nice work before in any movie.
Even the concept of the movie is fresh and presentation was also good. But the movie was not very interesting. Most of the scenes were predictable and some times really boring.
Vishnu.. Actually this guy was one of the drawing factors for me to watch this movie. He did a wonderful job as a simple village boy in 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'. In this movie, he acted as a simple city guy. Another nice effort by him. He has justified the role. Good man! Looking for many more good movies from you.
Piaa... Nallukku naal merugerikitta irukkiriye ma ;) Pia is a 'F5' button. Whenever she comes in screen, it refreshes the audience. If some one needs a heroine with modern look, I think, Piya should be the first choice.
Vivek... He is the main reason for this movie not deserving 'Bale Bale'... Sema mokka.. Clear signs of being out of form.. Whenever he comes in screen, audience keep their hand on forehead and say 'iyyo vandhuttanda'.
Villains.. There are many villains in this movie, fortunately none of them were irritating. While acting of comedy villains in 'Irumbu kottai murattu singam' was overdose, in this movie, things were under control. The motta villain was very good in action scenes.
Music: Devan.... Songs were pleasing for ears. 'Happy' song with many singers coming in screen was a nice thinking. The bit songs were very good, especially the traffic signal bit song. But there were no clear tunes which are hummable. I doubt if Devan can become a successful music director.
Brilliant cinematography by Sounderrajan.
Director: Siddarth Chandrashekar.... Man, you have lot of creativity. Though this is his first direction venture, he has been in film industry for good time involving in promos of movies. If he had concentrated more on the screenplay part also, this move would have been a great success. Anyways, good work Siddarth!
As it is told in their film promo in Television channels, please see this movie in theatre and not in thiruttu DVD :)

As it is told in their film promo in Television channels, please see this movie in theatre and not in thiruttu DVD :)

Baana Kaathadi - Not interesting
I went to theatre with the expectation that movie will be below average. To my relief, the movie was not irritating. But definitely, not an interesting movie. With lot of fresh actors, Prasanna and Yuvan the director could have given a better one.
Adharva.. A decent show in debut movie. Natural acting. Think, he is not a good dancer. Even the 1 or 2 steps he put were not coming with flow. We can comment more only after seeing few more movies from him. But the good thing is he expressed his love unlike his father Murali...But unna mudha padathulaye saavadichaattangale thambi!
The scene when Murali comes and tells that he is a medical college final student was funny... "Ivar innuma college padikkarar?" question and Adharvaa's reaction was enjoyable.
Samantha... Except for few scenes where she appeared very matured, she is a treat to watch. In those few scenes, Adharva-Samantha were like 'Ek Choti Si Love story' couples :P One can go for this movie just to see Samantha (But I didn't go just for that ;) )
Karunas was ok ok.. Some scenes were mokkai.
Prasanna.... Man, you proved once again that you give the best.. Impressive performance.. I have always regretted that our Tamil heroes got stuck up into some image and that stops them from doing character roles (be it even a smaller role).. But Prasanna is en exception.... He takes all the good things that comes in his way..
This movie is technically sound. Cinematograoghy, Editing and especially music. Yuvan has given some good numbers and most of the songs were picturised well.
Considering that this is director Badri Venkatesh's first movie, we can give him a pat and ask him for better ones in future.

Madrasapattinam - Worth watching
There are clear signs of inspiration from Titanic and Lagaan. We have seen some local-international love already in Tamil movies. But definitely, none of these factors shall stop you from watching this movie.
This romantic tale set to have happened in 40s is fit for a cool watch. There may not be many interesting scenes. But definitely, there are no irritating scenes.
The picture might have not depicted the things that had happened during independence exactly. But definitely, there are no big logical flaws
We could get some synthetic feel of 40s. But definitely, the efforts that have gone behind art direction has come out well. We are happy to see the clean Koovam.
We need actors like Arya who have not fallen into any image (as of now) to act in this kind of movie. Ullam Ketkume, Sarvam, Pattiyal, Naan Kadavul and this movie Madrasapattinam... Arya had always delivered whatever is required by the director. Please be the same, Arya!
Amy Jackson.. New definition of beauty! :) This movie is worth watch at least for seeing her ;). Thanks for not choosing 'just a fair' foreign lady. Good choice!
G.V.Prakash.. Another decent album from him. Even BGM is good. The chorus background which comes throughout the movie is still ringing in my ears.
Director: A.L.Vijay... I became a fan of this guy after seeing 'Poi solla porom'.. I would go to the extent of saying that it was the best crisp and fast screenplay I had ever seen. That kind of pace is missing in this movie. There will be hidden humour spread throughout Poi solla porom which is also missing in this movie. But we have to appreciate him for taking a completely different movie (a tough one too). You are definitely in the list of 'Promising directors' Vijay.
Madrasapattinam is definitely worth watching (at least once) in theatre.

Raavanan - A good movie but where is Mani's touch?
Before going critical, I shall start with some positive comments.
Locations were the backbone of movie. Every frame was beatiful and exceptionally fresh. We should appreciate the efforts that went in deciding those places.
Camera work. I don't know how many exclamations should be put.. Two brilliant cameramen Santhosh Sivan and Manikandan were involved in the project. There is a saying that too many cooks spoil the broth. But these 2 together multiplied the standard of movie by 100 times.. Brilliant!!
For the location and camera alone, this movie is a MUST WATCH in theatre.
Vikram. A decent job from him. But that ' bag bag bag'. 'dandandanaka' all reminded Kandhasamy.. Not just for me but most of the audience in theatre were shouting the same. All thanks to Susi ganesan :P
Aish. No disappointment :P
Prabhu has done a good supporting role.
The songs already had a good reach. Usure Pogudhey had great applause in theatre. The picturisation added more value to the song. BGMs were OK (One chorus BGM reminded Ayirathil oruvan BGM). Overall, a minimum guarantee work by ARR again which will surely be hailed by his fans.
Suhasini's dialogues were good in some scenes. But some dialogues were not very clear (may be the movie might have repeat audience for hearing the dialogue clearly). Usually all the dialogues in Mani's movies will be precise, sharp and effective. This movie lacked such dialogues throughout the movie and that could possibly be the reason for not getting the feel of seeing a Maniratnam movie.
Prithviraj, Karthik, Priyamani etc didn't have much scope. Not a commendable performance from them.
So why is it that I say, this movie doesn't have Mani's touch? I don't have a specific answer. Mani's touch is more a feel than a parameter which can be clearly defined.
Yes, we all know Raamayanam story. What is that extra flavor which Mani has added (like he did in Thalapathi with Mahabaratham story base) is the reason for high expectation. But Mani missed to do that this time. Except for a good last 2 mins in climax, the movie was predicatable and usual.
But I would like to appreciate Mani for one thing at least. He continued with Ranjitha wich shows his decency. But it was kind of irritating to see audience whistling whenever Ranjitha came on screen. Podhum sir, vidunga!
Definitely, this movie is better than most of the contemproary movies. But there is something called Maniratnam's standard which is not met in this movie.
But Mani sir! Fans like me will look for your next movie with same expectation, bit pls don't disappoint us one more time :)

Singam - Not bad
There were mixed reviews about Singam.. I went to theatre with the belief that I won't like the movie..May be, that attitude helped.. The movie was not appearing that bad as I was told..
Yes, yet another commercial masala.. But there are some good scenes too.. While in all films, hero will be single man army and villain will have a big gang, the first half of the movie was different with Surya having such a big gang in his native which scares even Prakashraj..
What I didn't like in this movie are Vivek's mokka comedies, 'engeyo ketta maadhiri irukke' kinda songs from DSP and the theft done by Hari during 2nd half. That diverting police and villain moving in Andhra direction is completely stolen from Anjaadhe.. Why do you want to do it Hari? Your creativity is not that bad.. You could have tried something on your own..
Surprisingly, I liked Anushka for the first time..Don't know why (But definitely not because of that rainbow song :P)
The stunt master should be appreciated.. The fight sequences were really powerful..
So were the dialogues.. That 'ongi adicha ondra ton weight' dialogue appeared like 'too much' while seeing in trailer.. But while looking in sequence, that scene was sema mass. Surya had really done a good job..
I don't know what my review would have been if this movie was acted by Vijay or Ajith. I have a positive bias for Surya that he is balancing between commercial and classic movies. Next is Rakthacharithra from him which is a good sign that he didn't get caught in image net like Vijay or Ajith..Keep going Surya!
Singam can be watched once, for sure!

Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam
Brilliant art direction photography and all the technical aspects..
Lawrence is stylish.. After Rajini, style suits only for Lawrence..
We should appreciate Simbudevan for giving this try..
But I have to tell that the film was boring.. The comedies were so explicit and childish (looks like they aimed at school children as audience)
If there was some good humor, this movie would have gone to classic list..

Sura
A very late movie review..
But I want to register briefly what I thought about the blockbuster from Vijay :P
No I am not going to write anything very bad about Vijay. Ppl are tired reading the SMS, mails and reviews making fun of Vijay..
I actually pity on him.. He is a good dancer.. He can do good comedy.. Very dynamic hero.. But he is wasting all these by choosing based stories and mundane screenplays..The time he realise this, there will be no one to recognise his talents..
Vijay antony helped in Vettaikaaran's oralaukku collection.. Mani sharma vum serndhu kazhutharuthuttaaru..
Thamanna was very irritating..
Vadivelu was of no use..

Angadi Theru - Fine and Clean movie!
"No heroism. No punch dialogue. Be simple and show the reality. Movie will be a hit".
"Life at Ranganathan Street, T Nagar". Wow! Very interesting to hear the one liner. Good that the director got the spark to make a movie about life of people in that special street of Chennai. Though there was little exaggeration in portraying their life, it disappears since there was a huge amount of reality shown in movie.
Bala showed the other (mostly sad) side of beggars et al in 'Naan Kadavul. Vasantha Balan has shown the other (sorrow, happy, love) side of salespersons working in the gigantic shops of Ranganathan Street.
This movie need actors who look like our real life salesboy and salesgirl and it has got a perfect star cast. Mahesh resembles Kathal Bharath. Some one has to advice Mahesh, not to act in Perarasu movies :P. Anjali.. I am already a fan of her 'Nejama than soldriya?' in Katradhu tamizh (My all time favorite movie!) She has done a wonderful job in this movie too. Very dynamic and cute. Pandi's innocence is a treat to watch.
Director Venkatesh and Pazha Karuppaya have a done a good job in their 'anti' roles. I just wanted to tell you all that Pazha Karuppaya is a wonderful writer. Recently, I had posted one of his article for Dinamani in my blog.
With 2 young music directors (GV Prakash and Vijay Antony) who have been successful, recent days, the songs could have been even better. Only 'Aval appadi ondrum' is good. There should have been at least 2 more good songs. The songs were actually slowing down the pace of movie which was already going at a slower tempo. Vijay Antony has done a decent job in background score.
Direction: Vasanthabalan. What to say! This man is a wonderful film maker. We are expecting more and more good movies from you.
Angadi Theru is a fine and clean movie. Best among the recent releases and of course, a Must Watch!

Maathiyosi - Yosikkave Illa
Yes, it was told that movies like Subramaniyapuram, Paruthiveeran are trend setters. Of course, we saw good follow up movie like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu.
On the negative side, It gave liberty to think that any movie taken in Madurai base will be a success. PSSR FIlms (Production) might have thought, with amateur director, useless music director and new actors, (overall with a LOW BUDGET) he could take more money out, just by producing a Madurai based movie. But I am happy that this movie will be a flop.
The 4 heroes are as bad looking as possible (typical south TN c*l*ny guys). Their slang, the place in which they are living, the high class Th*v*rs... everything was shown good, though there was some exaggeration. But all were shouting at high decibel (especially President's wife). It was very irritating.
After looking at that dry village, heroes who appear like they have never taken bath, Chennai slum etc. the heroine's face was so relaxing to see. She(Shammu, Kanchivaram fame) was looking very nice. I think, only she would have got the highest salary in the movie.
The small girl character (karuvaachi) was very nice and it should be the best character in that movie.
The movie had many logic flaws, suicide of Ponvannan's wife for a dummy reason is a sufficient example.
The songs and BGMs were horrible. Guru Kalyan! Nee mattum en kaila kedacha!!! Sundar C Babu would have been a reasonable pick. I don't think he asks for more money, does he? If PSSR Films wants all technicians for free, then they will get MD like Guru Kalyan only.
About the director, Nanda Periyasamy. Nothing much. He has been strongly inspired by Subramanaiyapuram and Paruthiveeran. There are lot more stuffs to be told about villages. Konjam Maathi yosikkanum sir.
Maathiyosi. If you are a person like me who has no other work and staying in a place where an expected movie like 'Aval Peyar Thamizharasi' didn't get released, then go for this movie.
I didn't see Thambikku Indha Ooru, but was convinced that it will be worse than Maathiyosi.
